Reference: Student Registration Errors

All Registration Actions

When you help students register for courses or manage their registrations, you can encounter errors when you perform these actions.

When you help students register for courses, you can encounter errors when you perform these actions.

Register a student whose recent change in program of study resulted in a different academic calendar that applies to them.
This can occur when a student changes their primary program of study, reporting record, or both.
Ensure you're selecting the correct academic record, or that the student has access to the selected institution.
To find that information, either:
  • Access the
    View Programs of Study for Student
    report.
  • From the
    Overview
    report on the Academics profile group of the student profile, view the
    Education Objective
    grid.

  • BIOL 101-1L, which is a laboratory that runs from 2025-09-01 to 2025-12-01.
  • BIOL 101-2L, which is a laboratory that runs from 2025-09-08 to 2025-12-08.
Students can only register for either:
  • BIOL 101-1 and BIOL 101-1L.
  • BIOL 101-2 and BIOL 101-2L.
Students can't register for either:
  • BIOL 101-1 and BIOL 101-2L.
  • BIOL 101-2 and BIOL 101-1L.

  • For the same course.
  • Offered during the same academic period.
This creates a duplicate registration.
However, you can register students for the same course more than once during the same academic period if:
  • The registrations are for different academic records.
  • Each course section offers a different special topic. Example: You register a student for each of the special topics offered by PHYS 201, such as yoga and Pilates.
Select a new course section or drop the existing section.
