Reference: Repeat Course Registrations
Students can repeat courses in Workday by registering for courses they've already completed. By default, Workday prevents students from repeating courses unless you configure:
- Individual courses to be repeatable.
- A course attempt policy for an academic unit and level configuration. This enables all courses owned by that academic unit to be repeatable.
You can enable students to retake:
Use Case | Configuration | Description |
|---|---|---|
Individual courses for additional credits. | When you create or edit courses, select the Repeatable for Additional Credit check box. | Students can only take up to the maximum number of attempts and credits you configure on the course. |
Individual courses when students receive specific final grades. Example: On an A to F grading scheme, you enable students to retake courses when they receive a grade of D or lower. | When you create or edit grading schemes, select the Repeated for Grade Improvement? check box. | When students receive a final grade with this configuration, they can repeat the course.
Students can retake the course:
|
Any course within an academic unit and level configuration. | Configure the course attempt limit and course repeat policies. See Steps: Set Up Course Repeat Policies
| Students can repeat courses until they reach the limits set by the course repeat policy. This policy also determines the attempt that counts for GPA.
You can also configure the course repeat policy to specify which attempt to use in GPA calculations when students repeat courses, such as the best attempt, latest attempt, or all attempts. When only the last attempt counts in GPA calculations, you can limit the number of forgiven units. Once students reach that limit, all units from subsequent attempts are included in their GPA. |
