Concept: Registration Restriction Overrides

Concept: Registration Restriction Overrides

You can override registration restrictions that prevent students from registering for course sections.
Students can also use the
Request Course Section Pre-requisite Override
task to submit override requests.

Before Registration

You can use the
Maintain Registration Restriction Overrides for Student
task to grant students override tokens that enable them to bypass a specific registration restriction for a course. Example: MATH 101 is a prerequisite for MATH 201. You can bypass this requirement and enable a student to take MATH 201 without completing MATH 101.
You can configure enrollment access restrictions on the
Maintain Enrollment Access and Grading Policy
task.

During Registration

You can configure security groups to enable administrators to override restrictions when you register or waitlist students for courses.
When you override a
Capacity
restriction for a course section, the number of enrolled students increases but the
Section Capacity
doesn't change. This can delay waitlist promotion for that course section, unless the waitlist notification existed before you overrode the capacity restriction. To prevent delays in waitlist promotion, consider increasing the
Section Capacity
using the
Edit Published Course Section
task.
You can use the
Registration Audit History
report to view past overrides.
