Manage Programs of Study for Students

Manage Programs of Study for Students

Configure these business processes and security policies in the Student Records functional area:
  • Add Program of Study Event
    .
  • Change Program of Study Event
    .
  • Remove Program of Study Event
    .
  • Change Primary Program of Study Event
    .
You can enable specific Security Groups to initiate the
Add Program of Study for Student
 task,
Remove Program of Study for Student
 task, or
Change Program of Study for Student
 task through the Initiating Action on the corresponding business process policy for each event. Enabling these tasks to the business processes allows you to configure additional actions such as:
view
,
cancel
,
review
, and
deny
 program of study transactions on the student's academic record.
You and your students can:
  • Add programs, including advisory programs.
  • Change programs.
  • Remove programs.
You can also change the student's primary program of study.
Workday validates program of study transactions based on:
  • Addable and stackable configurations for a student's primary program of study.
  • Entry requirements policy applicable to the program.
  • Nonstandalone programs that are bundled with new or existing standalone programs on the academic record.
When adding or changing programs, you and your students can bundle programs with any standalone program on their academic record. Bundling programs supports use cases such as double majors with concentrations. Students must complete bundled programs together.
You can bundle nonstandalone programs of study with standalone programs on a student's academic record. You can't bundle standalone programs together. They complete with the student's primary program, unless stacked.
  • Add a Program of Study

       report on the Academics profile group of the student profile.
    2. Click
      Add Program of Study

  • Change a Program of Study Record
    1. Access the
      Overview
       report on the Academics profile group of the student profile.
    2. Click
      Request
      .
  • Remove a Program of Study
    1. Access the
      Overview
       report on the Academics profile group of the student profile.
    2. Click
      Request
      Remove Program of Study for Student
      .
    You can only remove a program of study when the student has more than 1 program.
  • Add an Advisory Program
    1. Access the
      Overview
       report on the Academics profile group of the student profile.
    2. Click
      Add Advisory Program
      .
  • Make a Program of Study Primary
    1. Access the
      Overview
       report on the Academics profile group of the student profile.
    2. Click
      Request
      Make Primary Program of Study
      .
      You can only make these program type categories primary:
      • Official Program
      • Formalized Joint Program
      • Undeclared Program
      • Non-Degree Program
      You can only make a program of study primary when the student has more than 1 program.
Workday updates the academic requirements on the
Academic Progress
 report on the Academics profile group of the student profile.
(Optional) When you configure any of the relevant business process on a program of study and its academic unit, Workday uses the business process definition on the academic unit as its default. To assign a higher priority to the business process definition on the program of study, access the
Maintain Precedence for Business Process Definition Selection
 task.
