Steps: Set Up Student Registration
- Set up:
- Student registration setup.
- Academic foundation.
- Curriculum management.
- An academic calendar with standard academic periods and assigned to the academic unit and level for which you're enabling student registrations.
- Publish the applicable course sections to set their status toOpen.
You can configure the student registration process to align with the policies set by your institution. Examples:
- Students can drop courses until September 30. After that date, they can only withdraw from courses.
- During registration appointments, honors students can register for 18 units while other students can only register for 15 units.
- Students with aPhilosophy majorprogram of study can request anAuditgrading basis for any course that’s not owned by thePhilosophy department.
- When a seat opens up on any course owned by theAccounting department, Workday automatically registers students from the waitlist without requiring further input.
This enables students to register for courses independently, which reduces manual effort for you and helps you focus on addressing students with special circumstances.
- Set up registration-related date controls.Examples:Drop with W Grade End,Enrollment Window Start, andLast Date to Waitlist.
- Set up enrollment access policies.
- Set up enrollment unit limit policies.
- (Optional) Set up waitlist policies.
- (Optional) Enable students to access theView My Saved Schedulesreport from a dashboard.AddView My Saved Schedulesas a menu sectionItemto any dashboard that you display to students.
- (Optional) Enable a visual saved schedules editing experience for students.
- Access theMaintain Feature Opt-Insreport.
- Opt-in to theUser Interface for Student Registration Saved Schedulesfeature.
- (Optional) Set Up Security for Registration Restrictions.Enable faculty members to override registration restrictions when they register students for courses.
- Set up mass drop registrations.Configure these business processes for students who no longer meet the requirements of the courses for which they're registered:
- Mass Drop Registration for Non-Payment. You can also set up soft drops instead. See Set Up Registration Soft Drops for Past Due Balances.
- Pre-Requisite Failure Mass Drop Registrations Event.
- (Optional) Set up access for third parties, such as parents, to view current classes.
Students can independently register for courses according to the policies and configurations that you set for your institution. They can register from:
- Their academic plan.
- Their saved schedule.
- TheFind Course Sectionsreport.
- A course listing.
