Set Up Registration Assignment Policy

To ensure you can create a new policy snapshot when there are registrations that exist after the policy effective date, it’s important to:
  • During deployment: Set up the
    Set Up Registration Assignment Policy
    prior to loading registrations into Workday.
  • Live customers: Configure any new policy snapshots prior to opening registrations for a period.
You can control how Workday places student course registrations into Academic Period Records using the
Course Section Start Date
. This aligns registration groupings and eligibility checks with the specific start dates of course sections rather than the standard start dates of the academic period.
  1. Access the
    Maintain Registration Assignment Policy
    task.
  2. Create a new policy snapshot.
  3. Specify an
    Effective Date
    .
    During deployment, set an effective date that is after any in progress registrations to avoid validation errors.
  4. Select
    Course Start Date
    as the logic for how registrations should roll up to a student's Academic Period Record.
  5. Click
    OK
    .
    Setting up this policy changes how Workday evaluates enrollment unit limits in Set Up Enrollment Unit Limit Policies.
Workday will now use the specific start dates of course sections to determine the assigned academic period for registrations. You can verify your configuration using the
Academic Unit Policy Task
.
