Steps: Set Up Curriculum Management

You can set up curriculum management to efficiently maintain your course inventory and course offerings, including educational activities beyond the classroom.
- Access theMaintain Course Subjectstask.Define the course subjects offered at your institution.You can:
- Specify course subjects only for academic units that you designate as institutions.
- Reuse the same course subject names across multiple institutions.
Security:Manage: Course Subjectsin the Student Records functional area. - Create meeting day patterns and meeting patterns.
- Access theMaintain Course Assessment Typestask.Create course assessment types to associate with scheduled assessments. Examples: Midterm, Final Exam.Security:Set Up: Curriculum Managementin the Student Records functional area.
- Access theMaintain Campus Assignment Policytask.Specify the campus locations where instructors can teach courses for an academic unit and level. You can configure a different policy for subordinate academic units and programs of study.Workday also uses campus assignment policies to define the campus locations for:
- Student recruiting events.
- Student applications and admissions decisions.
- Program of study offerings.
By default, Workday allows all locations with a usage ofCampus. See Create Locations.Security:Set Up: Campus Assignmentin the Student Records functional area. - Set up instructional locations so that you can schedule course instruction.
- Set up instructors to teach courses.
- Access theCreate Course Materialtask.Create an inventory of course materials, to use on courses and course sections. Example: Textbooks. You can also use the Student Course Material web service to load course materials.Security:Manage: Course Materialin the Student Records functional area.
- Configure profiles forStudent CourseandCourse Section.
- (Optional) Set Up Course Tags.Create tags to associate with courses, course sections, and instructors.
- (Optional) Set Up Learning Outcomes.
- (Optional) Set up student competencies.
- (Optional) Create or Edit Competencies. Create competencies to link to learning outcomes.
- (Optional) Access theAssign Learning Outcomes to Competencytask. Associate learning outcomes with student competencies.
- (Optional) Set up student activities, such as Study Abroad, Orientation, and Practical Learning.
You can now create courses and course sections in Workday.
You can use the:
- Academic Unit Policy Viewerreport to view the campus assignment policy for an academic unit or program of study.
- View Student Course Materialreport to view course materials.
