Steps: Set Up Academic Structure

  • Map out the academic structure of your institution before you set it up in Workday.
In Workday Student, you create an academic structure for your institution and configure these options:
  • The academic levels it offers, such as Associates, Undergraduate, and Professional.
  • The academic units, such as the schools, colleges, departments, or other divisions with academic levels.
    • These units can recruit prospects, admit students, offer programs of study, offer courses, or administer financial aid.
  • An
    Institution
    or a
    Company
    designation for academic units.
  • Academic unit hierarchies that enable roll-up reporting.
  1. Access the
    Maintain Academic Levels
    task and define academic levels, such as Undergraduate and Associates.
    Enter a unique
    Academic Level Name
    to display on transcripts. More than 1 institution can have the same level.
    The
    In Use
    check box identifies levels associated with an academic unit.
    Security:
    • Set Up: Academic Structure
      domain in the Academic Foundation functional area.
    • Set Up: External Student
      domain in the Staffing functional area.
  2. Access the
    Maintain Academic Unit Subtypes
    task and create academic unit subtypes.
    Name each subtype, such as department or college, and select
    Use with Academic Unit
    .

  3. Designate an academic unit as an institution.
