FAQ: Diversity & Inclusion Question Set
- Will Peakon be updating or removing the Diversity and Inclusion (“D&I”) question set?
- Currently, there is no plan to update or remove the D&I question sets. Workday, however, periodically reviews and validates its question sets based on research, and will notify customers of any removal or significant changes to its question sets.
- Will customers be able to change the name of the D&I question set?
- At this time, customers are unable to change the name of Workday-delivered drivers, sub-drivers or question sets. If the naming convention of the drivers is a cause for concern, customers are recommended to use the ‘Custom Questions’ question section to create their own set of questions with their own naming convention for custom drivers.
- Can customers limit access to responses to D&I question set?
- Yes, customers can govern access to survey responses via access controls, including limiting access to existing responses.
- Can customers change the wording of the D&I questions and, if so, will the updated wording appear in the D&I dashboard view?
- Yes, customers can change the wording of the D&I questions. Please find more information here. However, changes should be kept to a minimum due to potential impact on the validity of customer’s benchmark comparison. To learn more about this, please see the next question. Please note that when customers make changes to the D&I questions in one language, those changes are not automatically reflected in those questions for other languages. For example, if customers only change the wording of questions for the UK English language, users with other preferred languages (e.g. US English) will not see these changes and will still see the question’s original wording in their dashboard and/or surveys. Customers would need to edit the question in each of those languages to ensure consistency in the question’s wording across all languages. To avoid having to change the question’s wording for each language, customers are recommended to use the original wording of D&I questions, but implement question targeting to omit certain populations from those questions, and create custom questions with their preferred wording for these omitted populations.
- Will customer’s changes to the wording of D&I questions impact their ability to compare their D&I scores to Peakon’s benchmarks?
- Yes, some wording changes might have a more severe impact than others on the quality, reliability, and stability of Peakon’s benchmarks, which may in turn impact customer’s use of the benchmark comparison. In order to ensure customer’s use of benchmark comparison is not impacted by changes to the question’s wording, here are examples of changes that would help retain the validity of the benchmark comparison:
- Match the language of the business. Modifying a term in a question to make it more specific to your organizational language or context will likely not affect the comparison to benchmark. These might be common referrants. Example:
- /My managerencourages me to express my opinions. My supervisorencourages me to express my opinions
- I see a path for me to advance my career in our/organization.I see a path for me to advance my career in our.company
- . /My colleaguesare willing to help each other with work if needed. /My coworkersare willing to help each other with work if needed. My teamis willing to help each other with work if needed
- Using synonyms. If the replacement of the word is likely to be interpreted similarly, the change will likely not affect the comparison to benchmark.
- I have the/rightmaterials and tools to complete my work.I have the.appropriatematerials and tools to complete my work
- If I do. /greatwork, I know that it will be recognizedIf I do.excellentwork, I know that it will be recognized
- Maintaining the subject. Modifying a question that retains the way people respond; since this doesn’t change the underlying concept and intent of the question, therefore it will likely not affect the comparison to benchmark.
- I’m inspired by the purpose and mission of. /our organization.[Company’s Name]executive team has communicated a vision that inspires me
- I feel a sense of belonging at. /[Company Name]I feel like I belong at.this organization
- Removing parentheses. Completely removing parenthetical examples in a question to make it universal or cross-culturally appropriate will likely not affect the comparison to benchmark,if you are confident that the term(s), which are explained by the parenthetical examples, are widely understood and interpreted the same in your organizational context by everyone.
- Based on how your organization defines “X term”, would every employee know how to interpret this if you removed the parentheses?
- Note that for D&I questions, specifically, parenthetical examples were included particularly for languages where there is no direct translation of the term “diverse/diversity’ in this context.
NOThelp retain the validity of the benchmark comparison:- Altering the subject. Modifying a question that changes the way people respond; it changes the underlying concept and intent of the question and does affect the comparison to benchmark.
- I have enough freedom to decide how to do my work. /My manager empowers me to make decisions regarding my work.
- I get enough feedback to understand if I’m doing my job well. /My manager provides me with constructive feedback about my performance.

- Yes, customers can raise a customer support case for such a request.
- Is it possible to exclude specific employee segments from D&I questions?
