Set Driver Question Frequency

Set Driver Question Frequency

Security:
Manage schedules
.
When using an automatically recurring survey frequency (instead of Manual frequency), you can control how often each employee receives different question types. Question frequency settings work on a per-employee basis to ensure questions are distributed flexibly based on when an employee last answered them.
You can switch question sets on or off when you set the frequency of scheduled surveys. This means you can run standalone surveys targeting specific segments of your business or run your questions at different cadences to suit your needs.
Workday Peakon is transitioning to a Flexible Listening Question model which provides greater simplicity and flexibility to our question model through a number of enhancements. For more information, visitSetup Considerations: Flexible Listening Question Model.
For customers who had their Workday Peakon production instances created from the 31st March 2026 onwards, you will use the flexible listening question model unless you opted out. In this question model, drivers are made up of questions and each standard question has a unique title. There are no ‘main’ questions within a driver, all questions are equal. This has updated question frequency settings as detailed below.
For customers who had their production instance created before the 31st March 2026, you will continue to use the existing question model with the driver, sub-driver and main question structure until we make it possible for you to upgrade to the flexible listening question model in the 26R2 and 27R1 release cycles.
  1. Go to
    Administration
    Schedules
    .
  2. Open a schedule by clicking
    View
    or create a new schedule.
  3. Go to the
    Frequency
    tab.
  4. Expand a question set. Example: Health & Wellbeing.
  5. Set the frequency for the question groups.
  6. For customers who had their production instance created from the 31st March onwards: Expand
    Show Frequencies
to set up the frequency of individual questions from our core question sets. The default
    Random rotation interval
    is set for
    Once within 3 months
. You have the option to set them as:
    Every survey
    ,
    once per week
    ,
    once within 2 weeks
    ,
    once within 1 month
    ,
    6 months
    ,
    12 months
    ,
    Never
    or
    Custom Frequency
    .
For customers who had their production instance created before 31st March 2026: Set the frequency for the main question, drivers, and sub-drivers. Example:
    Quarterly
    ,
    monthly
    , and
    quarterly
. As you configure question frequencies, the sidebar adjusts the average number of questions in the survey and provides a recommendation based on your survey frequency.
  7. Click
    Save changes
    .
If you make changes during a live round, they reflect immediately for employees who have not yet answered the survey.
If you select
Every Survey
(or
Always
, for companies using the Classic question model), questions from the question group will display for all eligible employees in the next (or current) survey and subsequent surveys, until you deactivate the question or change its frequency. Note that if you have multiple questions on a single driver (Example: You've created a driver in Company questions with 10 questions), setting the frequency to
Every survey / Always
means all questions from the driver will appear in each survey.
For automatically recurring surveys, the timing of when the question displays can differ from 1 employee to another, depending on when the employee last answered the question.
In for Peakon tenants using the Flexible Listening question model,
Every survey
matches the survey frequency. Example: if the survey runs every 2 weeks and a question is set to
Once per week
, the system shows an info message indicating that the survey frequency overrides the question frequency.
