Create Educational Institution Grading Schemes

Create Educational Institution Grading Schemes

Security:
Manage: Educational Institution
domain in the Academic Foundation functional area.
You can use educational institution grading schemes to:
  • Record the grades that students receive on external transcripts.
  • Define the grade point values that correspond to external grades.
Workday delivers educational institution grading schemes that correspond to the codes used for Postsecondary Electronics Standards Council (PESC) Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) in the Transcript Implementation Guide (TS 130). In Workday, you can view the grades and corresponding grade point values for these grading schemes when creating or editing educational institutions. From the
Grading Schemes
prompt, access the related actions preview of the grading scheme code.
You can create custom grading schemes to include:
  • Unique grades that the Workday-delivered grading schemes don’t provide. Example: R, X, and K.
  • Grades that map to more granular grade point values.
  • Different grades for the same grade point value, for assigning different transfer grades.
  1. Access the

    task.
  2. Complete the task:
    Option Description
    Code
Enter a unique code to identify the grading scheme.
    Grade
Select from Workday-delivered or custom grade values for educational institutions, or create a new grade value.
    Grade Point Value
Select from Workday-delivered or custom external transfer grade point values, or create a new grade point value.
    Configuration
(Optional) When the educational institution has multiple grades with the same grade point value, you can specify configurations to distinguish the external grades and assign different transfer grades on transfer grade mapping policies. See Set Up Transfer Grade Mapping Policies.
The options don’t impact whether the grade earns credit or is included in GPA calculations. You’ll need to configure your internal grading schemes so that the equivalent transfer grades earn credit or be included in GPA calculations.
