Steps: Set Up Educational Institutions

You can set up educational institutions in Workday to track information about the secondary and postsecondary schools that:
  • Prospective students currently attend or attended.
  • Current students attended or plan to attend.
  1. (Optional) Access the
    Create Educational Institution District
     task.
    Define school districts for secondary institutions. You can enter the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and State IDs for each district.

  2. (Optional) Access the
    Maintain Designations
     task.
    Create designations for educational institutions. Workday uses designations as a search facet on the
    Find Educational Institution
     report.

     domain in the Academic Foundation functional area.
  3. (Optional) Access the
    Maintain External Transfer Grade Point Values
     task.
    View Workday-delivered grade point values, and create custom grade point values that educational institutions use.
    You can use external transfer grade point values:
    • As acceptable transfer grades.
    • In educational institution grading schemes.
    • In transfer grade mapping policies.

  4. Set up custom grading schemes for educational institutions.
  6. Set up the course catalog for the educational institution. You can use educational institution courses to record external transcripts and set up transfer credit rules.
  7. Define how course unit types from the educational institution convert to student unit types at your institution, for transfer credit evaluations.
  8. (Optional) Access the
    Find Educational Institution
     report.
    From the related actions menu of an educational institution, select
    Educational Institution
    Edit Score
    .
    Add scores to educational institutions to use in admissions calculations.

You can:
  • Associate educational institutions with prospects for their previous education.
  • Use educational institutions as locations for recruiting events or in student recruiting regions.
Workday displays educational institution districts on the
Find Educational Institution Districts
 report.
Map programs of study to educational institutions to enable the valid selection of intended institutions and programs of study for students.
