Steps: Set Up Academic Plan Templates

  • Set up:
    • Academic structure.
    • Programs of study.
  • Security:
    Set Up: Academic Plan Templates
     domain in the Academic Advising functional area.
Academic plan templates provide an easier and more efficient way to create academic plans for students. You can create:
  • Multiple templates for a program of study so you can offer different plans for different types of students and better align plans with educational goals.
  • Different versions of the same template so you can keep a template by name but update the courses and academic requirements for a new period of time.
  1. Access the
    Create Academic Plan Template
     task.
    • Workday only displays academic requirements that are valid for the
      Program of Study
       and
      Effective Date
       you select.
    • The
      Period Number
       corresponds to the academic period in the student's academic plan.
      Example: The row with a
      Period Number
       of
      3
       applies to the third academic period in the academic plan.
  2. (Optional) Access the
    View Academic Plan Template
     report by clicking an academic plan template.
    You can create or edit versions of the academic plan template on the
    Versions
     tab.
  3. Access the
    Maintain Academic Plan Templates for Program of Study
     task.
    For each
    Effective Date
    , select:
    • One or more academic plan templates.
    • A
      Default Template
       that Workday uses to create academic plans automatically during the
      Student Onboarding Event
       business process.
    Workday only displays academic plan templates that are:
    • Assigned to the selected program of study.
    • Active as of the
      Effective Date
      .
Workday makes the templates available:
  • For use when creating academic and alternate academic plans for students.
  • Through the
    Find Academic Plan Templates
     report.
Review templates for a program of study on the
Academic Plan Templates
 report on the Requirements profile group of the program of study profile.
