Concept: Workday Home and Search

Workday Home and Search provides users with a central place to engage with company information through various types of offerings. You can customize each employee's experience so they can see relevant information when they need it.

Workday Home

Workday Home delivers a personalized experience that surface timely insights and curated actions. We minimize administrative overhead to create an experience that is fast, smart, and more intuitive from the very first login. Refer to The New Workday Experience for 2026R1 release note for details.

Workday Home
The home page provides a curated experience for all your workers. The home page displays information through content such as suggested tasks, transactions, announcements, reports, and insights through cards, journeys, and worklets. You can customize the content that displays for your workers based on security permissions.
The home page displays content in these sections:

Workday Search

Workday Search enables users to use a powerful user-friendly search engine on Workday Home to find information that's most relevant for them.

Search Categories
You can select and save categories to display first in the search results under
Saved Categories
.
Workday automatically displays these categories:
  • Articles
  • People
  • Tasks and Reports
  • Learning
Search Tips
You can view search tips that enable you to find articles more easily.
AI Enhanced Search
You can access a new search results user interface that uses Workday Assistant to display personalized search results.
When enabled, AI Enhanced Search displays:
  • An optimized search results page user interface.
  • A Workday Assistant summary powered by AI. The summary provides personalized search results for common search queries. Example:
    my team's hire
     date and
    my location
    .
You can enable and disable AI Enhanced Search with the Simplified Search toggle at the top of the search results page.
You need to have Workday Assistant enabled in your tenant to display the Workday Assistant Summary.
Smart Summaries
You can access personalized data in the search results.
Smart Summaries displays:
  • The Time Off Summary when you search for terms related to time off. The summary displays your time off balance, upcoming time off, upcoming holidays, and a link to request time off and view all time off balances. Example: You search for "PTO" in Workday and the Time Off Summary displays in the search results. For managers, the summary also displays their team's upcoming time off and company holidays.
  • The Pay Summary when you search for terms related to pay. This summary displays your most recent pay and a link to view all past payslips. Example: You search for "paycheck" in Workday and the Pay Summary displays in the search results
Smart Search Suggestions
Uses machine learning to analyze keyword search queries and long-form natural language search queries. Using search autocomplete, Smart Search Suggestions displays a query's matching task or report prior to the user completing their search and accessing the search results.
Intelligent Answers
Uses machine learning to display and suggest the most relevant Knowledge articles based on your search query.
You can:
  • Enter full sentence search queries.
  • Use the article feedback functionality to train and improve Intelligent Answers over time.
Enhanced Tasks and Reports in Search
Enhanced tasks and reports displays:
  • Additional tasks and reports related to a user's specific search query in the
    Tasks and Reports
     search results category.
  • Up to 5 of the top tasks and reports for a user's specific search query in the
    Top Results
     search results category.
Change Preferences Task
You can select the
Classic Workday Search
 experience or the new
New Workday Federated Search
 experience.
Workday recommends using the
New Workday Federated Search
. Additionally, you can select the
Standard Federated Search Page
or the
Simplified Federated Search Page
.
We recommend the
Simplified Federated Search Page
. You must:
  • Access your User Profile menu through your avatar and click on My Account.
  • Access
    Change Preferences
     Task and navigate to the
    Search Preferences
     section.
