Mass Propose Compensation Changes

Mass Propose Compensation Changes

  • Set up Mass Job Changes. See Set Up Mass Job Changes.
    • Edit the business process definition of the
      Change Job
business process definition you're using for mass actions. Configure
      Propose Compensation Change
      as a step.
    • In your
      Change Job
      template, add
      Propose Compensation
      as a subprocess.
    • (Optional) If you have a Change Job consolidated template, add
      Propose Compensation Change
      as a subprocess.
  • Security:
    • Select Any Compensation Package
in the Core Compensation functional area.
    • Field and option visibility in the
      Compensation
      tab and
      Mass Edit
modal depend on the user’s permissions for the domains associated with those fields. Users need access to these domains in the Core Compensation functional area to edit their associated fields in the mass job change:
      • Compensation Change: Guidelines
        .
      • Compensation Change: Salary
        .
      • Compensation Change: Hourly
        .
You can process compensation changes as part of a mass
Change Job
business process. When you initiate a mass
Change Job
process, and
Propose Compensation Change
is configured as a subprocess, you can access the
Compensation
tab of the mass action interface to view and edit compensation changes.
You can only use this feature with an active compensation change template. You can bulk-edit compensation components within these sections depending on your compensation change template configuration:
  • Guidelines
    .
  • Hourly
    .
  • Salary
    .
You can bulk-assign
Guidelines
components. You bulk-adjust
Hourly
and
Salary
plans, but you can't assign new plans.
You can add other compensation components to your compensation change template for the mass
Change Job
event, but you can only edit those components one at a time during the event, rather than in bulk.
This feature isn't applicable to all workers. It excludes:
  • Contingent workers.
  • Workers whose primary compensation basis is Manage Basis Total (MBT). If a change made during the mass Change Job process causes a worker to become MBT-eligible, Workday won’t update their compensation.
    1. Add a new template or create an existing template. In the
      Enable for Business Process Type
      field, select
      Change Job (Propose Compensation Change)
      .
    2. In the
      Reasons for Change Job
field, select options that match the
      Reason
      you would use at the
      Mass Job Change
event initiation. Compensation change templates are assigned dynamically based on the event
      Reason
      , and the
      Reasons
configured in your compensation change template must match the
      Reason
at event initiation in order for the mass compensation change to be available.
    3. In the
      Select Sections for Template
field, select the sections you want to be available to edit in the mass Change Job event. You can only mass edit
      Guidelines
      ,
      Salary
      , and
      Hourly
. If you select other options, you can only edit them one at a time on the mass
      Change Job
      table.
    4. Ensure the users whom you desire to mass propose compensation changes as part of mass
      Change Job
actions have the domain security required to view and modify the compensation fields you include in your template.
  1. Access the
    Compensation
    tab in the
    Mass Job Change
table. Mass edit your desired compensation changes.
    1. If your compensation change template includes the
      Guidelines
      section, you can bulk-assign
      Compensation Grade
      ,
      Grade
      ,
      Grade Profile
      ,
      Progression Start Date
      , and
      Step
      .
    2. If your compensation change template includes both the
      Hourly
      and
      Salary
sections, you can increase or decrease the existing salary and hourly plan amounts or percentages. This process modifies plans already assigned to a worker; it doesn’t assign new plans.
Workday creates a compensation event for each worker undergoing a compensation change as part of the
Mass Job Change
process. Compensation rules and defaulting run based on the proposed job changes. For example, if you bulk-assign a new compensation package, Workday also assigns any included plans depending on eligibility rules.
Run the
Compensation Group Event Details
report to view current and proposed compensation changes.
