Initiate Mass Job Changes
- Configure theChange Jobbusiness process and security policy in the Staffing functional area.
- Set up Change Job templates for mass actions in theMaintain Change Job Templatestask.
- Complete Set Up Mass Job Changes.
- Security:Mass Action Eventsdomain in the System functional area and Staffing functional area.
You can select a population of workers and initiate a mass job change. Workday generates an interactive table based on your selection.
Workday recommends that you avoid a mixed population of employees and contingent workers, or workers from position management organizations and job management organizations, in the same table.
You can add up to 5,000 workers to the table by:
- Using the Workday-delivered standardStart Mass Job Changereport.
- Selecting a report in theStart Mass Job Actiontask.
- Creating a custom facet report by copying the Workday-deliveredStart Mass Job Changereport.
- Access theStart Mass Job Changetask or theStart Mass Job Changereport.
- Select the population for the mass job change:From theStart Mass Actiontask, select your population using:
- Reports
- List of Position IDs or Worker IDs
- Supervisory Organizations
From theStart Mass Job Changereport, use predefined filters or custom facets, such asSupervisory Organization,Job Profile,Location,Cost Center,orCompany. You can copy and customize this Workday-delivered report to modify filter facets. - Complete the task or report:OptionDescriptionMass Action NameEnter a unique name to distinguish this mass action from other mass transactions.Effective DateSelect the date when the mass job change takes effect.Workday uses this date for real-time validation.Change Job TemplateSelect the Change Job Template that you have configured for mass actions.Change Job ReasonSelect 1 or more reasons for the mass job change such asChange Job Details,Move to Another Manager, orPromotion.

Initiate a mass job change
Workday generates an interactive mass job change table and you receive a notification when the table is ready.
The table displays 1 row for each eligible position. Workday automatically excludes ineligible workers or positions from the table:
- Unfilled positions.
- Workers for whom you don't have permission to initiate change job events.
Excluded positions appear in the
Positions Excluded
count on My Tasks,
not as rows in the table.You access the table by selecting
Open Table
from My Tasks
.The displayed data is based on the
Select Sections for Template
and Select Subprocesses for Template
configuration on the Change Job template you selected and your security permissions. The Mass Action Name
you enter helps you distinguish between multiple in-progress mass actions.
