Concept: Dashboard and Heat Map Visibility by Access Level

The access type of an access control group determines the data its members can view. Administrators set this up when creating a new access control group, and it cannot be changed once the access control group is created.

By default, all managers are part of the standard

Managers

group, while all users that are in your Peakon instance are part of the standard

Employees

group.

When you create a new access control group for general access, you can select between 3 access levels:

When you create a specialist group, you can select between 2 access levels:

With context switcher, authorized users can switch between their dashboards.

Users in the

Managed employees

access control group type can only view a limited list of segments on their context switcher, which are the segments they manage.

Users in the

All employees

access control group type can select any segment within your Peakon instance, given they have

Access statistics

permission and, in some cases,

Access to restricted segments

.

Example: An area manager has access to their

All Reports

segment and have been added as a segment manager of the

Dublin

(Office) segment. As they are included in a

Managed employees

access control group type, they can only switch contexts and visit those two segments:

All Reports

and

Dublin

(Office).

The heat map is visible for both users from

Managed employees

and

All employees

access types, if they also have the

Access comparison of segments

access control permission enabled.

Through the heat map view, a user from a

Managed employees

access control group will only have partial access to data from a segment if they do not manage the segment directly or in its entirety.

If a manager don't have access to a subsegment, they won't have the option to expand the segment to view it's subsegments on the heat map.

Example: An area manager included in a

Managed employees

access group has access to the

Dublin

(Office) segment. They can see the

All Reports

segment from their own direct manager on the Dublin office Heat Map. However, the results the area manager sees is not the entirety of the direct manager's

All Reports

segment, because their direct manager also manages users located outside of the

Dublin

(Office) segment, which the area manager does not have access to. When they view the results of their own manager's

All reports

segment through the Heat Map, they can only see the results and scores related to employees they can access.

In contrast, users from

All employees

access control groups (Example: Administrators) have access to the entirety of the segment when they access the same heat map. These users can view information on the Heat Map of the Dublin office, which is hidden from the

Managed employees

user group.
