Concept: Specialist Access Control Groups
This topic explains how specialist access control groups work. See Concept: General Access Control Groups to learn about general access, and see Setup Considerations: Access Controls to learn about the access control functionality at a higher level.
Overview
Specialist access enables administrators to control which drivers within a question set a designated specialist user can view and action on their Peakon dashboards. This provides additional flexibility compared to general access groups which only enable you to configure access at question set level. You can also give access to specific Custom Company Drivers via the specialist access.
By providing access to the right people, you can ensure specialized teams and leaders, who own certain employee experience areas, can see valuable company-wide or segment specific insights to drive accountability and success.
Access Types
Specialist access groups have 2 access levels: company-wide access and segment access. The access level options relate to the extent of data that the group's members can access, not the permissions that they can use within their assigned area.
Access Type | Description |
|---|---|
Specialists: company-wide access | Specialist company-wide access type groups provide access to specialist users who require company-wide data for a particular driver (or combination of drivers). Example: Your Director of Learning and Development needs company-wide access to the Growth driver. This group type provides added company-wide data rights to certain specialists, and doesn't remove the unselected drivers from a manager's existing dashboards. Example: If a specialist user also has a direct team, they don't inherit their specialist rights in their team's context. |
Specialists: segment access | Specialist segment access groups provide access to specialist users who require access to a particular driver (or a combination of drivers) within a specific segment. Example: Your regional D&I manager for France, who's also a line manager for a team, needs their team access in one context and the D&I data for France in a different context. |
Limitations
- The Values questions are currently part of Engagement. It is therefore not possible to separate access to Engagement and Value question sets at this time, nor is it possible to give a user access to a subset of Values.
- This functionality doesn't apply to your company's administrators, who will always have access to all question sets and drivers.
- It's only possible to manage specialist access group users manually, so only administrators can add and remove users from specialist groups. This differs to general access control groups, which you can link to segments to enable local administrators to indirectly add and remove users.
- It's not possible to assign segments through specialist access groups in bulk.
