Concept: Segment Managers
Overview
A segment manager is a leader that manages an already-existing segment that isn’t their own reporting line. A segment manager can also manage segments in addition to their own reporting lines.
Example: a Human Resources partner needs access to a country segment, alongside their own Direct Reports team. If the Human Resources partner manages multiple views, their dashboard only displays results for the context they are in currently.

- Employee
- Combination
Considerations
After you assign an existing segment to a manager:
- The manager is automatically part of theManagersaccess control group and can use the group's enabled permissions. There's an exception if you assign segment access through a specialist access group, in which case they're only part of the specialist group.
- The manager can access the entire segment, within the constraints of the permissions of their access control group(s). Example: If the group provides access to comments, the manager can immediately see all historical comments of their newly assigned segment.
- If the assigned segment is a parent segment of a hierarchy, the manager also inherits managing rights of the child segments in the hierarchy. Example: If you have a hierarchy between Region and Country, a Region segment manager also fully manages the Country segments in the hierarchy.
- The manager's name displays next to the segments you assigned them to in theAttributesconfiguration area inAdministration.
- The managed segment displays in theManagingtab on the employee record of the manager. There's an exception if you assign segment access through a specialist access group, in which case the managed segment displays next to the manager in the specialist access control group.
- The manager have full view of the segment, including comments, segment comparison and ability to generate Powerpoint reports. If the intended outcome is to share a shortened version of the dashboard excluding this information, consider removing the segment manager access and Share Your Dashboard instead.
- Administrators and users with access to the section can view the list of segment managers under theManagerscolumn, by viewing one attribute at a time.
