. Workday Peakon is transitioning to a Flexible Listening Question model to provide greater simplicity and flexibility.
- Instances created from March 31, 2026, onwards: You use the Flexible Listening Question model unless you opted out. In this model, drivers are made up of questions, and all questions have equal weight; there are no "main" questions.
- Instances created before March 31, 2026: You continue to use the existing question model with the driver, sub-driver, and main question structure until you upgrade during the 26R2 and 27R1 release cycles.
The survey frequency setting enables you to select whether your survey should automatically recur, and if so, the intervals that the cadence should use.
The survey frequency setting enables you to select whether your survey should automatically recur and the cadence it should use. Automatically recurring surveys enable you to set individual question frequencies, which dictate how often each employee receives questions. Manual surveys ask all active questions to all employees at the chosen date and time.
- Go to .
- ClickViewon the survey schedule you want to configure.
- Access theFrequencytab.
- Configure the survey frequency for your question sets.
- If you select Manual frequency: select the "Include in survey" checkboxes on each question. Select exactly which questions to include per round. You can also use the bulk enable/disable button per question.
- If you select an automated frequency: Use the independent frequency selectors to set a cadence for each question (Always, Never, or a numeric cadence). Use the "Never" option to exclude individual questions entirely.

Option | Considerations |
|---|---|
Every survey
Sends the designated questions to employees in every active survey round.
Once per week
Automatically schedules and rotates questions to appear once every week.
Once within 2 weeks
Automatically rotates questions so employees receive them once every 2 weeks.
Once within 1 month
Rotates questions to ensure distribution once within a 4-week time block.
Once within 3 months (Default)
The standard system setting that rotates active questions to balance survey length while maintaining consistent coverage within a 13-week interval.
Once within 6 months
Rotates questions to deliver them once within a 26-week interval.
Once within 12 months
Rotates questions to deliver them once within a 52-week interval.
Only once
For non-manual schedules, the question repeats in every survey round until the employee submits a single response. Manual schedules ignore this setting and require direct per-round selection instead.
Never
Excludes the question or question set entirely from all upcoming survey rounds without requiring you to deactivate it in the library.
Custom frequency
Enables you to manually define a tailored timing interval or repetition rule for your organization's specific needs.
For customers using the
classic question model
: individual question frequencies can’t be configured on your tenant. Once you’ve set up the survey frequency, See Set Driver Question Frequency and Set Open-Ended Question Frequency. The new survey frequency is effective from the next survey round.
- If you are using question timings, ensure the survey frequency is set to Weekly. Refer to Concept: Onboarding and Exit Question Timing.
- Regardless of which frequency you selected, review the questions that you need to include in the survey. See Enable Questions in the Survey.
