Example: Create Related Calculations to Track Worked Hours
This example illustrates how to track hours worked for salaried workers, excluding time off, and
holidays.
Global Modern Services provides pension account contributions to salaried workers who work more
than a certain number of hours a month. To verify worker eligibility for a pension
account, you want to track the total worked hours for each worker, excluding any
time off or holidays.
- Set up the worker's holiday calendars.
- Create a related calculation namedScheduled Hours (prorated)with proration set toProrate using Days Worked.
- Create a related calculation namedHours Worked in Period (unprorated)with proration set toNone of the above.
- Create aSalaryearning based on a compensation element.

Workday calculates the workers' hours based on their weekly scheduled hours, and excludes time
off and holidays. When the worker has multiple subperiods, Workday calculates a
worker's hours based on:
- Weekly scheduled hours, prorated by days worked.
- The time off or holidays in the subperiod.
