Steps: Generate 1098-T Forms
You can use 1098-T runs to generate 1098-T forms for students in your institution who:
- Are international students or permanent residents.
- Are U.S. citizens, as configured in Step 1 below.
- Have reportable student financial transactions on their accounts.
- (Optional) Access theMaintain Citizenship Statusestask.Configure citizenship statuses to include in tax form creation.Security:Set Up: Contact Info, IDs, and Personal Datadomain in the Contact Information functional area.
- (Optional) Maintain 1098-T Options.You can configure international students or permanent residents to include in tax form creation.
- Access theCreate 1098-T Runtask. As you complete the task, consider:
Option Description Confirm you did your due diligence for TIN reportingUse the1098-T Audit Reportreport to identify students who are missing Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs).CorrectedSelect to mark all forms generated in the run as corrected.Security:Manage: 1098-T Processingdomain in the Student Financials functional area.
Workday displays the count of excluded forms on the
Job Summary View
page.You can:
- Update student 1098-T data using theEdit Student 1098-Ttask.
- Use theGenerate Student 1098-Ttask to create:
- Individual 1098-T forms for students not included in the 1098-T run.
- A corrected form.
- Submit the forms to the IRS. See Steps: Set Up Integration for Student Financials Data.
- Print 1098-T forms.
