Steps: Generate 1098-T Forms

You can use 1098-T runs to generate 1098-T forms for students in your institution who:
  • Are international students or permanent residents.
  • Are U.S. citizens, as configured in Step 1 below.
  • Have reportable student financial transactions on their accounts.
  1. (Optional) Access the
    Maintain Citizenship Statuses
    task.
    Configure citizenship statuses to include in tax form creation.
    Security:
    Set Up: Contact Info, IDs, and Personal Data
    domain in the Contact Information functional area.
  2. You can configure international students or permanent residents to include in tax form creation.
  3. Access the
    Create 1098-T Run
    task. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    Confirm you did your due diligence for TIN reporting
    Use the
    1098-T Audit Report
    report to identify students who are missing Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs).
    Corrected
    Select to mark all forms generated in the run as corrected.
    Security:
    Manage: 1098-T Processing
    domain in the Student Financials functional area.
Workday displays the count of excluded forms on the
Job Summary View
page.
You can:
  • Update student 1098-T data using the
    Edit Student 1098-T
    task.
  • Use the
    Generate Student 1098-T
    task to create:
    • Individual 1098-T forms for students not included in the 1098-T run.
    • A corrected form.
  • Print 1098-T forms.
