Steps: Process 1098-T Forms

Set up student consent for removal from mass printing using the
Manage Consent for Removal from 1098-T Mass Print
 task.
You can process 1098-T tax form statements so that students can claim tax credits for qualified educational expenses.
  1. Access the
    1098-T Audit Report
     report.
    Identify and address any students in the 1098-T population who:
    • Don't have a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).
    • Don't have an address.
    • Have an international address. Workday can generate and file 1098-T forms for students with international addresses, but is unable to print their forms.

  2. Create 1098-T tax forms for reviewing, editing, submitting, and printing.
  3. (Optional) Access the
    Edit Student 1098-T
     task.
    You can:
    • Add a service provider or account number.
    • Override box values.
    • Override printing consent.
    • Restrict tax form creation for students and exclude them from submission to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
    • Edit other details.

  4. (Optional) Access the
    Maintain 1098-T Options
     task.
    If you blocked student access to tax forms while you reviewed and edited them, clear the restricted calendar year.

  5. Run the
    1098-T E-File Outbound
     integration to submit the 1098-T files to the IRS.
  6. (Optional) Access the
    Maintain 1098-T Print Layout
     task.
    You can select the different tax form options for each year.

  7. (Optional) Access one of these tasks:
    • Mass Print 1098-T Forms
    • Print 1098-T
    You can print 1098-T forms for an individual student or all eligible students.

You can send notifications to students that their 1098-T forms are ready using the Create Student Engagement Plans process.
Students can print or view their 1098-T forms using the:
  • Print My 1098-T
     task
  • View My 1098-T
     report
