Maintain 1098-T Options

Security:
Manage: 1098-T Processing
domain in the Student Financials functional area.
You can configure options for 1098-T tax reporting, enabling you to:
  • Include or exclude student populations.
  • Mask identification numbers for taxpayers.
  • Override filer information.
  • Process legacy data from conversion year.
  1. Access the
    Maintain 1098-T Options
    task.
  2. In the
    1098-T Population
    section, define the population of students to include in 1098-T runs.
    Workday:
    • Includes all students defined as U.S. citizens on the
      Maintain Citizenship Statuses
      task. In this section, you can select additional populations to include.
    • Excludes international students without taxpayer identification numbers (TINs) when you select both the:
      • International Students
        check box.
      • Exclude International Students without TIN
        check box on the
        Additional Populations
        prompt.
  3. As you complete the
    1098-T Settings
    section, consider:
    Option Description
    Truncate Taxpayer Identification Number (TTIN)
    Select to display only the last 4 digits of taxpayer identification numbers to administrators. When you clear this check box, Workday displays unmasked TINs for administrators.
    By default, Workday displays fully masked TINs for students. You can partially mask TINs for students using the
    Edit Tenant Setup - Global
    task.
    Service Provider/Account Number
    Select to include the student or universal ID information.
    1098-T Conversion Year
    Select the year that you converted from your legacy system to Workday. When processing 1098-T forms for that year, Workday includes:
    • Legacy data recorded using the
      Maintain 1098-T Conversion Year for Student
      task.
    • Any transactions recorded in Workday for that year.
    Restrict 1098-T for Calendar Year
    Select years to block student access to any tax forms while you review and edit them.
    Show Box Details in Self-Service
    Select the box details that students can view in the self-service reports.
  4. (Optional) Override information about the filer to display on your tax forms. Workday defaults the filer information based on the company of the institution.
