Create Residency Calculation Mappings

Create Residency Calculation Mappings

  • Set up the Student Residency Event business process.
  • Create residency reasons and residency details (if used) for the Workday-delivered residency statuses.
  • Create a calculation using 1 of the calculation tasks. Use the
    Student Residency Evaluation
    Category
    .
  • Security:
    Set Up: Student Residency
domain in the Student Core functional area.
You can configure the calculation framework for residency calculation writebacks to the Residency fields in Workday. By mapping residency fields to calculated values, you can configure Workday to determine residency for a prospect or student from the residency questionnaire responses. You configure calculations using the
Total Questionnaire Score
report field, or by creating condition rules, using any of the residency report fields enabled for the calculation framework.
Mapping residency statuses to questionnaire responses provides an initial determination of residency status without manual review. Use a calculation task to create a calculation using report fields. Example: You can use the
Total Questionnaire Score
report field if you use a questionnaire to evaluate residency.
Determine which residency statuses that you want to create for your institution. Create 1 or more residency mappings to correspond to the status, detail, and reason combinations for determining residency statuses at your institution. You configure each combination with a unique range of values.
Use the mapping that you create and configure the:
  • Student Residency Evaluation
    Category
on any of the calculations tasks for calculating residency.
  • Student Residency Evaluation
service step on the Student Residency Event business process.
  1. Access the
    Create Residency Calculation Mapping
    task.
  2. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    Institutions
Select the institutions that this mapping applies to.
    Inactive
    Select
    Inactive
if you’re no longer using the residency mapping.
    You can’t delete a mapping.
Add rows to create unique combinations for residency status, detail, and reason. Assign a range of numbers for each residency combination that your institution uses.
After you configure the service step using the mapping and calculation, Workday applies the mapping values to determine residency when the residency business process initiates. The Student Residency Event business process also runs if you've configured it to initiate from other business processes.
You and students can view the
Residency Status
field on the student or prospect profile.
Configure the
Evaluate Student Residency Event
service on the Student Residency Event business process. Use this mapping for the
Residency Calculation Mapping
field. Use the calculation that you created using 1 of the calculation tasks and the
Student Residency Evaluation
Category
