Steps: Set Up People Experience for Workday Student

You can set up People Experience to enable your users to access engaging institutional information from a central place by providing a new Home page and search experience. You can enable the People Experience functional area to customize the Home page and display curated:
  • Announcements.
  • Cards (placard-like sections that link to different areas in Workday).
  • External links.
  • Worklets.
  • Videos, such as in announcements. To use Videos on the Home page, you might need to take additional steps to set up Media Cloud based on your organization's subscription service agreement. See Getting Started with Media Cloud.
  1. Enable the People Experience functional area.
    See Steps: Enable Functional Areas and Security Policies.
  2. Edit Domain Security Policies.
    Configure access to these domains:
    Domain
    Description
    People Experience Access
     in the People Experience functional area.
    If you've opted out of the People Experience Home page and search experience, Workday recommends you configure this domain to limit the users that see the Home page.
    Set Up: People Experience Configuration
     in the People Experience functional area.
    Enables you to customize the Home page.
    Manage: Media
     in the Backpack Hub Service functional area.
    (Optional) Enables you to set up media file management to use videos in announcements.
    Drive
     in the System functional area.
    (Optional) Enables you to set up media file management to use videos in announcements.
  3. Activate Pending Security Policy Changes.
  4. Access the
    Home Cards Workspace
     report.
    Add and publish cards to the Home page.
    Security:
    Set Up: People Experience Configuration
     domain in the People Experience functional area.
  5. Select
    Configure Search
     on the new Workday Federated Search page.
    Find
    Student
     in the
    More Categories
     section and move it to the
    Saved Categories
     section.
    Security:
    People Experience Access
     domain in the People Experience functional area.
  6. (Optional) Enable Quick Tasks for the Home page.
  7. (Optional) Access the
    Configure People Experience Home Page Content
     task.
    1. Select
      Enable My Tasks
       to display the
      Awaiting Your Action
       section on the Home page.
    2. Configure the external links to display alongside worklets when students click
      View All Apps
       on the Home page.
    Security:
    Set Up: People Experience Configuration
     domain in the People Experience functional area.
  8. (Optional) Select the worklets that you want to display when users click
    View All Apps
    .
    1. Access the
      Maintain Dashboards
       report.
    2. For the
      Home
       dashboard, click
      Edit
      .
    3. On the
      Content
       tab, select the required and recommended worklets that you want to display.
    Security:
    Set Up: Tenant Setup - Worklets
     domain in the System functional area.
  9. (Optional) Access the
    Edit Tenant Setup - System
     task.
    On the
    File Type Setup Instructions
     prompt, select file types that you want to use for videos in announcements.
  10. (Optional) Enable student access to Knowledge Base articles in Workday.
  12. (Optional) Optimize your tenant branding for the Home page.
    Workday recommends these pixel sizes:
    • 1440 x 193 for branding banner images.
    • 828 x 276 for small branding banner images.
Access the Home page to view the sections populated with your published cards.
If you've opted out of the People Experience Home page and search experience, and set up access through the
People Experience Access
 domain, sign out of your tenant and sign in again to see:
  • The new Home page.
  • Redesigned search result categories that display information important to you.
