Example: Create Step-Based Conditions for Campus Location and Standing

This example illustrates how to create step-based conditions based on campus location and standing.
At Alma Mater University, the campus recreation center fee varies based on the campus location, and the class standing of the student.
In preparation for creating a step-based calculation, you want to create step-based conditions to determine students with:
  • A main location is the main campus.
  • A freshman standing.
Create a location called
Main Campus
with a usage of
Campus
.
Security:
  • Set Up: Calculations - Generic
    domain in the Core Payroll functional area.
  • Access Calculation (Segmented)
    domain in the functional areas for Core Payroll, Implementation, Payroll Interface, and Time Off and Leave.
  • Set Up: Time Off (Calculations - Generic)
    domain in the Time Off and Leave functional area.
  1. Access the
    Create Step Based Calculation Condition
    task.
  2. Enter these values:
    Option Description
    Name
    Location is Main Campus
    Category
    Student Financials
    Logical Operator
    AND
  3. In the
    Conditions
    grid, enter these values:
    Operand 1 (Type/Value)
    Operator
    Operand 2 (Type/Value)
    Source Field
    Student Campus Location
    in the selection list
    Target Instance(s)
    Main Campus
  4. Click
    OK
    .
  5. Access the
    Create Step Based Calculation Condition
    task.
  6. Enter these values:
    Option Description
    Name
    Student is Freshman
    Category
    Student
    Logical Operator
    AND
  7. In the
    Conditions
    grid, enter these values:
    Operand 1 (Type/Value)
    Operator
    Operand 2 (Type/Value)
    Source Field
    Class Standing
    in the selection list
    Target Instance(s)
    Freshman
  8. Click
    OK
