Example: Create Step-Based Conditions for Registered Units

This example illustrates how to create step-based conditions based on billable units registered for an academic period.
At Alma Mater University, the campus recreation center fee varies depending on how many units the student is registered for.
In preparation for creating a step-based calculation, you want to create a step-based condition group to group together calculations related to the number of registered units.
You also want to create step-based conditions to identify students with:
  • Fewer than 12 units.
  • 12-15 units.
  • 16 or more units.
Security:
  • Set Up: Calculations - Generic
     domain in the Core Payroll functional area.
  • Access Calculation (Segmented)
     domain in the functional areas for Core Payroll, Implementation, Payroll Interface, and Time Off and Leave.
  • Set Up: Time Off (Calculations - Generic)
     domain in the Time Off and Leave functional area.
  1. Access the
    Create Step Based Calculation Condition Group
     task.
  2. Enter these values:
    Option Description
    Name
    SF Number of Billable Units
    Category
    Student Financials
  3. Click
    OK
    .
  4. Access the
    Create Step Based Calculation Condition
     task.
  5. Enter these values:
    Option Description
    Name
    Registered Units <12
    Category
    Student Financials
    Logical Operator
    AND
  6. In the
    Conditions
     grid, enter these values:
    Operand 1 (Type/ Value)
    Operator
    Operand 2 (Type/Value)
    Select:
    Calculation
    Select:
    Billable Units Registered for Academic Period
    less than
    Calculation
    12
  7. Click
    OK
    .
  8. Access the
    Create Step Based Calculation Condition
     task.
  9. Enter these values:
    Option Description
    Name
    Registered Units <=15
    Category
    Student Financials
    Logical Operator
    AND
  10. In the
    Conditions
     grid, enter these values:
    Operand 1 (Type/Value)
    Operator
    Operand 2 (Type/Value)
    Select:
    Calculation
    Select:
    Billable Units Registered for Academic Period
    less than or equal to
    Calculation
    15
  11. Click
    OK
    .
  12. Access the
    Create Step Based Calculation Condition
     task.
  13. Enter these values:
