Workday delivers reaction reasons that you can configure on these financial aid reaction policies for continued financial aid processing:

Reaction reasons fall under these general categories:

Attendance Plan

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Other

Various events, such as a program of study or location change, can cause a reaction reason to flag a student. When flagged, Workday uses evaluation criteria associated with the reaction reason to determine whether or not to route the student for continued financial aid processing. If they meet the evaluation criteria, Workday includes the student for reprocessing or manual review, based on the reaction method you configured for the reaction reason. The academic periods for which Workday reprocesses a student depends on the reaction reason.

Custom Object Change	Changes to a custom object.	A custom object on your financial aid reaction policy changed. For a reaction to trigger based on a custom object, you need to configure the custom object on the Maintain Financial Aid Reaction Policy task.	The academic periods for which the custom object update was submitted.
External Award	A web service imports an external award into Workday.	An external award was loaded into Workday using a web service.	The academic period for which the external award is loaded.
Housing Plan Update	Changes to a student's financial aid housing plan for award years 2024-2025 and later.	The student's financial aid housing plan changed since their last financial aid package was created.	The current academic period and all future academic periods in the financial aid award year of the ISIR.
Loan Application	A PLUS loan application is created manually or loaded through a CRSP PLUS Application response file.	There's a new loan application for the student. Available for need packaging reaction policies only.	The academic periods for the loan.
NSLDS Aggregate Override	Changes to NSLDS Aggregates.	An NSLDS Aggregate Override changed any of these values for an academic period: Overridden Aggregate Subsidized Balance Overridden Combined Subsidized Balance Overridden Pell LEU Available for need packaging reaction policies only.	The current academic period and all future academic periods within the financial aid award year.
Pell Grant Crossover Award Year	Changes to the active ISIR transaction used for Pell Grant packaging.	The active ISIR transaction that Workday uses for Pell Grant packaging changed. Available for need packaging reaction policies only.	All active current and future academic periods.
Private Scholarship	The addition of a new private scholarship or changes to an existing private scholarship as a payment source.	A private scholarship is added, adjusted, or canceled for the student as a payment source. Available for merit and need packaging reaction policies only.	The academic period in which the private scholarship was recorded as a payment source, and all future academic periods in the award year.
Residency	Changes to the student's residency status.	The student's Residency Status changed since their last financial aid package was created.	All academic periods on or after the effective date of the change.
Sponsor Contract	The addition of a new sponsor contract or changes to an existing sponsor contract.	Either: The student received a new sponsor contract. Amounts on an existing sponsor contract changed. Workday only evaluates sponsor contracts that have a No FA Need Impact value of False .	The academic periods for which the new sponsor contract applies, or the academic periods for which the sponsor contract amount changed.
Student Groupings	Changes to a student's membership in athletic teams and student cohorts.	As of the standard start date of the academic period, the student's membership in a student grouping associated with their reporting record changed. For a reaction to trigger based on a student grouping, you need to configure the student grouping on the Maintain Financial Aid Reaction Policy task. Student Groupings reactions don't apply to student applicants.	All academic periods on or after the effective date of the change.
Waiver	The addition of a new waiver or changes to an existing waiver.	Either: The student received a new waiver. Amounts on an existing waiver changed. The status of an existing waiver changed. To determine whether a waiver has changed, Workday compares the waiver payment amount from the most recent packaging run to the packaging run before it. Workday only evaluates waivers that have a No FA Need Impact value of False .	The academic periods for which the new waiver applies, or the academic periods for which the waiver amount or status changed.
