Create Program of Study Types

When you create a program of study, you select its type, which controls what the program can do. Name each program of study type your institution offers, such as Certificate, Major, Program (graduate), or Non-Credit. Specify whether each type can:
  • Grant credentials.
  • Have a program focus.
  1. Access the

  2. (Optional) Select an
    Institution
    .
    Workday bypasses the
    Institution
    field if you're a single institution. You can only view and modify program of study types for the institutions to which you have access.
  3. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    Name
    You can display the name of the type after the program name in tasks and reports. Example: Economics Major.
    Names for program of study types must be unique within each institution. If you have multiple institutions in your Workday tenant, you can maintain program of study types by the same name for each institution.
    Category
    Determines whether the program can:
    • Admit students.
    • Stand alone as the student's educational objective.
    • Confer credentials.
    You can view a description of all the categories using the
    View Program of Study Type Categories
    report.

    Manage: Program of Study
    domain in the Academic Foundation functional area.
    Concentration Possible
    Select this check box if programs of this type require or can have a program focus.
    Example: A Business Administration major with a program focus in Accounting.
