Identify the academic levels of an academic unit that can:
- Admit students.
- Offer courses.
- Offer programs of study.
- Recruit students.
You can also inactivate an academic level configuration as of an effective date.

- As you specify the responsibilities of each academic level, consider:
Option Description First Entry DateControls the first availability date for theConfiguration Optionsyou select.Examples:- The first date the academic unit can offer courses.
- The earliest anticipated start date of a prospective student for any program offered by the academic unit.
Effective DateThis date applies to the remaining columns. It represents the configuration of the academic level at any point in time.Configuration OptionsSelect 1 or more options for the academic unit and level:- Admit Studentsenables you to create applicants and define admissions eligibility, requirements, assessments, and applications cohorts.
- Offer Coursesenables you to create courses and course sections.
- Offer Programs of Studyenables you to create programs of study.
- Recruit Studentsenables you to create student recruiting cycles, campaigns, events, and prospects.
An admitting academic unit should be the same as or subordinate to the recruiting academic unit. Example: Alma Mater University can:- Recruit and admit students at the undergraduate level.
- Recruit undergraduates, and have its subordinate departments admit them.

- Use Fixed Period
- Use Fixed or Dynamic Period
Your selection controls which option you can select for processes in the academic unit and level:- Fixed academic period, such as a semester or quarter.
- Flexible dates.
- Either one.
You can use the
View Academic Unit Level Configuration
report to access
and view the definition of an academic unit as of a specific date. - To edit the configuration, access theEdit Academic Unit Level Configurationtask.
- To add academic levels to an academic unit, select from its related actions menu. You can select any level that's not already configured for the unit.
