Steps: Create Academic Unit Security Segment for Student Self-Service

You can create a segmented security group for providing access to students on the same tasks and business processes across institutions in a multi-institutional Workday tenant.
  1. Access the
    Create Academic Unit Security Segment
    task.
    1. For
      Name
      , enter the name of the new security segment. Example:
      Student Security Segment for LOA
      .
    2. For
      Institutions
      , select all the institutions that will have access to this security segment.
    Security:
    Set Up: Academic Unit Security Segment
    domain in the Academic Foundation functional area.
  2. Access the
    Create Security Group
    task.
    1. For
      Type of Tenanted Security Group
      , select
      Segment-Based Security Group
      .
    2. For
      Name
      , enter a descriptive name for the segmented security group. Example:
      Student Leave of Absence
      .
    Security:
    Security Configuration
    domain in the System functional area.
  3. On the
    Edit Segment-Based Security Group
    task:
    1. For
      Security Groups
      , select the security group
      Student as Self
      .
    2. For
      Access to Segments
      , select the academic unit security group you created.
You can configure the new security group for Student Self-service on the security policy for these business processes:
  • Add Program of Study Event
  • Apply for Program Completion
  • Change Program of Study Event
  • Declare Program of Study Event
  • Remove Program of Study Event
  • Student Institutional Withdrawal Event
  • Student Leave of Absence Event
  • Student Locations Change Event
Students across the configured institutions can initiate tasks or action steps on the business processes you've configured for the academic unit security group.
