Example: Exclude Registration from Requirement Override

This example illustrates how to exclude a registration from a student’s academic requirements.
Lin is a Math Major with 5 Math Major Core Courses. Lin took 1 of the core courses, MATH-220 in Fall 2022 and received a C grade. They took the same course again in Spring 2023 and received an A. Currently Workday is applying the registration from Fall 2022 to Lin’s Math Major Core requirements. However, as Lin’s academic advisor, you want to apply the registration with the higher grade.
  • Ensure that the course definition is repeatable for credit. See Steps: Set Up Course Repeat Policies.
  • Security:
    Academic Requirement Override Event
     business process in the Academic Advising functional area.
  1. Access the
    Override Academic Requirement for Student
     task for Lin.
    1. Access the
      Academics Progress
       report from the Academic profile group on Lin’s student profile.
    2. From the Math Major Core requirements, right-click and select
      Academic Requirement
      Create Override
      .
  2. In the
    Override Type
     prompt, select
    Exclude Registration from Requirement
    .
    The
    Satisfied With
     grid displays the in-progress and completed registrations currently satisfying the requirement, including the MATH-220 course from Fall 2022 with the C grade.
  3. From the
    Course Registrations to Exclude
    , select
    MATH-220
    .
  4. Click
    Submit
    .
    Wait for the business process to complete.
  5. Run the
    Launch Academic Progress Evaluation
     task to update the
    Academic Progress
     report.
On the
Academic Progress
 report, the Requirements grid displays:
  • An
    Override Assigned
     label for Math Major Core Courses.
  • Under
    Registrations Used
    , Workday is now applying the MATH-220 registration from Spring 2023 with the A grade.
The MATH-220 registration from Fall 2022 with the lower grade is now in
Unused Registrations
.
