Steps: Set Up Academic Requirement Evaluations

You can enable advisors and students to explore what-if scenarios, to evaluate how a student’s current academic record satisfies the academic requirements for a different program of study.
Workday evaluates the hypothetical academic progress for the programs of study that advisors or students select, comparing and providing details about course requirements and completion in a single report.
  1. Select the
    Evaluate Academic Requirements Prior to Program Change
     option to enable the program of study for student exploration.
  2. Configure the effective date options available for advisors and students when evaluating current and prospective programs of study.
    When you don’t configure this policy, Workday uses these dates by default to evaluate academic requirements:
    • For current programs of study, the requirements effective date of the current academic requirement configuration of the program of study.
    • For new programs of study, the current date.
  3. Configure what information displays on the evaluation results. This policy also determines the information that displays on the student’s
    Academic Progress
     report.
  4. Configure the academic requirements that apply for the programs of study you want to evaluate.
  5. Edit Domain Security Policies.
    Configure these domains in the Academic Advising functional area:
    Domain
    Description
    Manage: Evaluate Academic Requirements
    Enables advisors and administrators to evaluate and compare the program of study completion for a student using the
    Evaluate Academic Requirements for Student
     task.
    Self-Service: Evaluate Academic Requirements
    (Optional) Enables students to evaluate requirements and program completion details using the
    Evaluate Academic Requirements
     task.
  6. (Optional) Add details about programs of study to display to students before they evaluate their requirements.
    1. Edit Business Processes and Edit Business Process Security Policies.
      Configure the
      Program of Study Exploration Details Event
       business process and security policy in the Academic Foundation functional area.
    2. Access the
      Create Program of Study Exploration Details
       task.
      For each program of study, specify details such as an overview, description, URL, and contact person.
Advisors can use the:
  • Evaluate Academic Requirements for Student
     task to evaluate and compare the program of study completion for a student.
  • View Evaluated Academic Requirements for Student
     report to view the results of the academic requirement evaluation.
If configured, students can use the:
  • Evaluate Academic Requirements
     task to evaluate requirements completion and program completion details.
  • View Evaluated Academic Requirements
     report to view the results of an academic requirement evaluation of a program of study.
Workday displays program of study exploration details on the
Details
 tab of the program of study profile.
