Steps: Create Instance Fields for Prism Data Sources
- Field mappings exist from the Prism data source to the Reporting model. See Create Field Mappings for Prism Data Sources.
- Access to theSet Up Reporting Modeltask.
- View and Modify permissions on the Prism: Manage Analytic Dimensions security domain in the Prism Analytics functional area.
You can use Analytic Dimensions to bring in external dimension data and store it in Prism as user-defined instance data:
- Bring in the dimension data as a Text field
- Use the Instance Mapping stage to convert the Text field to an Instance field.
- Map the Instance field as a custom field to the reporting model.
- Add the custom cube field as a dimension to the reporting model.
After you store the data as an Instance field and add it to the reporting model, end users can report on it in OfficeConnect.
- To store external dimension data in Workday as instance data, you can create analytic dimension business objects.
- Steps: Convert an External Dimension Text Field to an Instance Field. Use the analytic dimension business object to:
- Convert the text field to an instance field.
- Update the Prism data source to include the new instance field.
- Edit the existing field mappings to add the new instance field as a custom field.
- Configure the reporting model to add the custom field as a dimension.
