Create Field Mappings for Prism Data Sources
- The Prism data source:
- Exists for the data you want to report on.
- Is enabled for analysis.
- Has the required fields.
- The ledger accounts and company hierarchies in the Prism data sources and in the reporting model match. See Set Up the Financial Reporting Data Model
- You have access to these tasks:
- Set Up Reporting Model
- Field Mapping for Reporting Model
- Create Custom Version
- Familiarity with custom fields and custom versions. See:
- Security:Set Up Reporting Modeldomain in the System functional area.
To add Accounting Center data and ledger-like prism data to the reporting model, you must map this data from the Prism data source to the Reporting Model data source.
Mapping aligns the data in the data source with the reporting model and makes it available for the reporting model. You can map these types of fields:
- Required Mappings. These are the required fields that you must map to the reporting model.
- Optional Mappings. These are additional fields that you can map to the reporting model.
- Custom Fields. These are tenanted fields that vary by customer and currently aren’t available in the Reporting Model. To map these fields, you must first add them to the reporting model. See Create Custom Fields for the Reporting Model.
You must map all the fields that you want to use for a data source. Unmapped fields for a data source display zero values in OfficeConnect.
The
Create Field Mapping for Reporting Model
task automatically maps some fields if these properties match exactly for both the source and the target fields:
- Business object
- Data type
- Field name
- In Workday, access theCreate Field Mapping for Reporting Modeltask. Complete the task:
Option Description Cube Definition (Reporting Model Type)Select Ledger Subledger.Data SourceSelect the Prism data source that has the required fields that you need to map. - ClickOK.
- InRequired Mappings, map the required fields from the Prism data source to the reporting model data source. Complete the task:
Option Description Mapping TypeSelect a source field from your data source or specify a value that is constant:- SelectSource Fieldto directly point to fields from the Prism data source. Example: For theCompanytarget field, if you select theSource Fieldmapping type, then in theSourcefield, you can directly map to the Company field in the Prism data source. The source field displays a Related Actions menu. You can click this menu to view source field details such as the related Prism table.
- SelectSpecified Valueto map to constant values that you can specify. Example: For theLedger Currencytarget field, if you select theSpecified Valuemapping type, then in theSourcefield, you can specifyUSDas the value.
SourceThe field name in the Prism data source. Based on the mapping type you select, you can either directly point to fields in the Prism data source or manually enter a value.TargetThe field name in the reporting model data source.VersionThe version you configure in the field mapping is the version that gets configured in the reporting model. By default, we provide the Accounting Center Journals version. You can also create additional or custom versions and name them clearly to describe the data they represent. Example: Actuals for 2025.Depending on how many versions of data your prism data source contains, you can either assign:- The same version to all records in the data source.
- Different versions to different records in the data source.
- Assign a version to the data source:To assign the same version to all records in the prism data source:
- In the In the Mapping Type column, select Specified Value.
- In the Source column, select .
- Enter the name you want to use for the version. You’ll select this same name as the version name when you configure the reporting model.
To assign different versions to different records in the prism data source:- In the Mapping Type column, select Source Field.
- In the Source column, select an instance field that contains Workday ID values for all the individual versions and uses Prism Ledger Type as the business object. See Concept: Custom Versions
- SelectOptional Mappingsto map any additional fields that you want to use either as dimensions or for Show Details.
- SelectCustom Fieldsto create and map tenanted fields that currently aren’t available in the reporting model.
