Create Positions
- Create supervisory organizations.
- Set up basic staffing information.
- Set up the job catalog.
- Configure theCreate Positionbusiness process and security policy in the Staffing functional area.
- If you use commitment accounting, include theAssign Pay Group for Position RestrictionandRequest Default Compensation for Position Eventsubprocesses.
- You can hide or require optional fields.
- If you want to track additional data on position restrictions, you can add custom fields.
- For academic positions, enable educational institution features and tenure tracking in theEdit Tenant Setup - HCMtask.
- You can enable job overlap on the position restrictions in theEdit Tenant Setup - HCMtask.
Before you can hire, transfer, promote, or demote workers into a supervisory
organization, you must:
- Open positions.
- Apply hiring restrictions to job profiles.
Hiring restrictions control these factors and more:
- The location of the positions.
- Which of the positions you can fill.
- Which workers can fill the positions.
Optionally, you can select the
Allow
Override of Restrictions on Staffing Events
check box in the
Edit Tenant Setup - HCM
task. If you use job requisitions,
this option enables you to override job profile restrictions specified on job
requisitions. - Access theCreate Positiontask.
- Select theSupervisory Organizationin which you're opening the position.
- On theHiring Restrictionstab, add the hiring restrictions that apply.
Option Description Availability DateEnter the date when the position is available for staffing transactions. The target hire date on job requisitions can't be earlier than this date. Also, you can't change this date after you fill a position for the first time.TheAvailability Date, which is associated with the supervisory organization, also determines when the position displays in prompts. If you view the position before its availability date, the supervisory organization is blank.Earliest Hire DateEnter the earliest date that you can hire a worker into the position.This date can be later than the positionAvailability Date.No Job RestrictionsMakes all job profiles in the job catalog available for staffing. - TheDefault Weekly Hoursfield is based on the primary location that you select on the job requisition.
- Workday inherits theScheduled Weekly Hoursfield from theScheduled Weekly Hoursfield on the job requisition.
ForScheduled Weekly Hours, Workday uses the time profile of the location you select to determine the default value for weekly hours. When you select a single location with the:- No orFull Timetime types, Workday uses the value in theDefault Weekly Hoursfield. If the value is too large, you can manually update the value to be less than 168 hours.
- Part Timetime type, Workday uses a value of zero.
FTEThis value is calculated by dividing theScheduled Weekly Hoursby theDefault Weekly Hours, and displays as a percentage. - Complete theQualificationstab.
You can view position information with these reports:
- View All Positionsdisplays open, filled, frozen, and future-dated positions.
- Position Summarydisplays filled positions, pending offers, future hires, and the number of position restrictions available for hire by quarter.
- Modify the hiring restrictions placed on a position.
- Correct the details of a position.
- Add custom data to position restrictions by selecting or from the related actions menu.
