External tracking from an external content provider fails

External tracking from an external content provider can fail when Workday Learning can’t apply completion or progress data to the correct learner or course in your tenant. Those failures are stored as failed tracking instances. You can use a custom report on the
External Tracking Requests
report data source (RDS) to view failed tracking instances.
External Tracking Processing Errors can include:
  • Course not found: The learner consumed a course on an external content provider's website that isn't imported into your Workday tenant.
  • Duplicate email found: Multiple learners in Workday use the same email address.
  • Learner not found: The learner's email on the external content provider's website doesn't match the email they use to sign in to Workday, or the email isn't associated with a learner in Workday.
  1. Create Custom Reports.
  2. For
    Report Type
    , select
    Advanced
    .
  3. For
    Data Source
    , select
    External Tracking Requests
    .
  4. On the
    Columns
tab, add a row for each of the following fields:
    • Content Provider
    • Created Moment
    • External Tracking Processing Errors
    • External Tracking Request
    • Learner Actor ID
    • Learner Email
    • Learning Content Reference ID
  5. Save and run the report as needed to review failed instances.
Every week, Workday automatically deletes failed tracking instances older than 180 days on the
    External Tracking Requests
    report data source.
