You can set up policies to define the date that Workday uses to determine which academic requirements are effective for a student, for academic requirements configured at these levels:

Academic units.

Program areas.

Programs of study.

You can configure the policy for academic units and levels, and different policies for subordinate academic units and programs of study.

To determine the default requirements effective dates for students, Workday uses the policy that’s effective as of the moment the academic progress is evaluated. When an effective policy isn’t configured, Workday uses the program of study declare date as the requirements effective dates by default.

You can also apply an override for specific students, to specify a different effective date. See Override Academic Requirements Effective Dates.

In the

Choose What to Configure

section, select the highest level of the academic structure at which you want to configure the policy.

When you configure a policy for a program of study or subordinate academic unit, you override the policy inherited from the superior academic unit and level, if applicable.

You can:

Create a new policy or reinherit the policy of the superior academic unit and level, as of the effective date you specify in the

Choose a Definition

section.

Edit an existing policy, defined by the policy effective date.

To reinherit the policy of the superior academic unit and level, you must first edit the subordinate policy to be the same as the superior policy.

In the

Academic Requirements Effective Dates

grid, select the effective date that Workday uses to apply academic requirements for each node of the academic structure:

Effective On	Description
Matriculation Date	Workday assigns academic requirements based on the standard start date of the first academic period that the student is enrolled in on their academic record. When students add or change programs of study, the effective date of their academic requirements is unchanged.
Program of Study Declare Date	Workday assigns academic requirements based on the date when the student declares their program of study. When students add or change programs of study, Workday bases the effective date of their academic requirements on the declare date of the new programs.

report on the student profile, Workday displays the dates used to determine which academic requirements apply for the student, based on the configuration node of the requirement.

Which academic requirement configuration to apply to the student.

The version of each academic requirement to apply.
