Concept: Version-Specific Transactions
You can make transactions version-specific by connecting a customized transaction report to the version. You can connect the customized report to the version with the
Drill into Transaction
s option in the Version Details
in the Modeling
area. Transaction data doesn't connect to versions by default. Instead it describes the intersections of data by level, time, and account only.Adding Versions to the Transaction Definition
You manage the definition for transactions in the
Modeling
area. To add version filters to the transaction definition, you can:- Create dimension values that correspond to each version and add the dimension to the transaction definition.
- Add a text field to the transaction definition. You can enter the version name.
- Add a text selector to the transaction definition. Then create text selector options that correspond to your versions.
When you import the transactions, you can then connect each intersection with the version importing the version into the new field.
Adding Version Filters to the Transaction Report
You create transaction reports in the
Reports
area. To add the version filters to the report:- Add version dimension, text field, or text selector to the columns.
- Use theFilterbutton and select the specific version you want.
You can create different reports for each version.
Connecting the Report to the Version
You can connect each customized report to the related versions in the
Modeling
area. In the Version Details
, use the Drill into Transaction
prompt to select the report that you filtered by the same version. Example: You created a transaction report, Transactions Budget 2023
, and filtered it by the version, Budget 2023. Then, for Budget 2023 version, you select Transaction Budget 2023
for the Drill into Transaction
option. Accessing Transactions
You can access the transactions when you launch
Explore Cell
from sheets or reports and click Drill into Transactions
. Drilling runs the predefined transaction report. The report filters by the version you're currently viewing.
