Theory References
The Exit question set development was based on extensive external research, as well as data trends that are seen in Peakon's global employee engagement data-set. From this data-set, we understand some of the core predictors of employee turnover, which also align with significant industry and academic research*.
These insights indicate there are a number of common experiences most heavily implicated in the decision to leave employment, a large number of which are potentially under the organization’s control.
Based on this, we introduce the new exit questions to be deployed automatically based on a relevant attribute in your HRIS (e.g. two weeks before end date). Our model includes the following concepts and question areas:
- Culture and values, alignment & sense of belonging
- Leadership & management support
- Career development & personal growth
- Reward & sense of recognition
- Autonomy, role clarity, & challenge/interest
- Workload & wellbeing at work
As with onboarding, responses enable insights about this key experience, comparisons between company segments, and taking strategic HR actions.
