Concept: Flexible Listening Question Model and Score

This topic describes the Workday Peakon Employee Voice 26R1 flexible listening question model and the resulting changes to driver score calculations.
Workday Peakon is transitioning to a Flexible Listening Question model which provides greater simplicity and flexibility to our question model through a number of enhancements. For customers who had their Workday Peakon production instances created from the 31st March 2026 onwards, you will use the flexible listening question model unless you opted out.
For customers who had their Workday Peakon production instance created before 31st March 2026, you will continue to use the existing Workday Peakon Question model until we make it possible for you to upgrade to the flexible listening question model in the 26R2 and 27R1 release cycles. Please read the below carefully to understand the impact of these changes.

Overview

The 26R1 release introduces a simplified question model designed to simplify survey setup and improve the understandability of displayed data.
The new model consolidates the question library into 90 high-performing questions across 23 driver categories. These categories continue to align with higher-order concepts: Engagement, Diversity Equity & Inclusion, and Health and Wellbeing.

Simplified Question Model

A simplified question model can be defined as a question set that has a flatter structure compared to what we currently have today.
  • Drivers within the question set have no hierarchy, all questions are equal and there is no main question.
  • All questions are equal and contribute evenly to a simple, average employee score that is the basis for driver score calculation.
  • All questions will have their own unique title and you’ll be able to give custom questions a question title making it easier to identify questions whether in the survey set up or analysis phase
The concept of a
main outcome driver with a core outcome question
remains for the core question sets, however new question sets won’t have them.

Score Calculation

Because all questions within a driver category are now peers, the platform uses a single
Aggregate
(average) score methodology.

Driver Score
Average mode first calculates the overall driver score per employee with their response to each of the questions within a driver. It then averages all overall scores to get the team driver score.
Separate mode works on a per driver or subdriver basis. To get the overall driver score, it only uses the latest score on the main question, per employee.
The data visibility window applies regardless of the setting that you select.
There is no core / main question within a driver, all questions are equal. Therefore your driver scores will always be in average mode.
There is no separate mode configuration.
The data visibility window applies.

Example

The Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) question set is an example of the simplified question model.
  • Question Set: Environmental, social and governance
  • Driver: Ethics Peer Questions (with Question Titles):
    • Customer treatment:
[Company Name] treats its customers with fairness and respect.
    • Doing what's right:
Employees at [Company Name] are encouraged to act with integrity.
    • Ethical approach:
I believe that [Company Name] operates ethically.
