Example: Target Attribute Data Collection in Surveys

This example illustrates how you can collect targeted segmentation data using attribute data collection.
You need to collect ethnicity data through attribute data collection. The required specifications are:
  • Employee response to this attribute is optional.
  • Employees must consent to data collection, if they submit an answer.
  • Employees in Germany mustn't be part of the attribute data collection, but should remain part of the survey.
  • All employees are part of the same survey.
  1. Navigate to
    Administration
    Attributes
    .
  2. Click
    Add attribute
    .
  3. Enter attribute name. Example:
    Ethnicity
    .
  4. Set
    Attribute type
    to
    Option
    .
  5. Expand
    Data access
    , then set
    Require employee consent
    to
    Required
    .
  6. Expand
    Targeted data collection
    .
  7. Click
    Excluding
    , then select
    Germany
    .
  8. Click
    Save changes
    .
  9. Within the new attribute, click
    Add segment
    .
  10. Type a segment name, then click
    Add
    . Example:
    White/Caucasian
    . Repeat until the attribute is complete.
  11. Navigate to
    Administration
    Schedules
    .
  12. Click
    View
    on your survey schedule.
  13. Select the
    Attributes
    tab.
  14. In the
    Select attributes
    section, select the Ethnicity attribute you created in steps 2-8.
  15. Set employee response as
    Optional
    .
  16. Click
    Add attribute
    .
  17. Optional: Add a customized message and its translations in the
    Message
    section.
After clicking
Start survey
, an employee can provide a response to the Ethnicity attribute by selecting a segment option that you created in steps 9-10. Employee response is optional, so employees can proceed without selecting an option. If an employee responds to the Ethnicity attribute, they must provide consent before proceeding.
  • If you need to include Germany in Ethnicity data collection, remove Germany as an excluded segment from Ethnicity.
  • If you need to disable attribute data collection for Ethnicity overall, remove the attribute from the schedule.
