Concept: Survey Participation Reporting
Workday Peakon Employee Voice (Workday Peakon) provides participation statistics to help you understand how many employees are responding to your surveys. These metrics are available across various dashboards, reports, and exports to help you drive engagement and identify communication gaps.
To protect employee confidentiality, it's not possible to view which employees actually answered the survey.
Participation Types
To provide a more intuitive experience, Peakon offers 2 participation metric types:
- Question Set Participation: Displays the percentage of unique employees who answered at least 1 question from a specific question set (e.g., Engagement or Health and Wellbeing) within the visibility window. This is the most accurate way to understand engagement levels for a specific theme.
- Overall Participation (formerly Global): Displays the percentage of unique employees who have answered any survey question within the visibility window.
While
Overall Participation
provides a high-level view, it can be skewed if you run frequent, targeted surveys like onboarding or exit surveys. We recommend focusing on Question Set Participation
for theme-specific analysis.Main Dashboard Metrics
Participation Metric | Description |
|---|---|
Question set participation | The percentage of employees in the current context who submitted a survey response where the selected question set was active. This figure also includes employees who might’ve skipped questions. |
Overall Aggregated Participation | The percentage of unique employees who have answered any survey within your selected visibility window across all question sets. |
Participation per survey round | The Latest round metric displays the % of employees who answered the survey in the latest round within the dashboard context you're viewing and where the question set you're viewing was active. The survey end date is the reference point for this statistic. The per-round participation can be much less than the aggregated participation. Example: 100% aggregated participation across 2 surveys, but only 50% participation in each survey round. This scenario could happen when entirely different employees (from the same segment) answer the survey in each survey round. |
Benchmark | The benchmark for participation is independent of the question set and displays the company-level participation rate for segments, or an external benchmark for the company-level dashboard. As a manager logging into Peakon viewing your team dashboard, the participation rate will benchmark against the organization's participation rate. |
Average participation | The average participation rate displays as an option in the graph that you can open by clicking on the Latest round and Aggregated participation metrics. |
Score accuracy | The score accuracy indicates the accuracy of the scores in reference to the aggregated participation rate. This statistic is specific to each question set and can therefore display different accuracy on the various question set dashboards. You can have low participation with high score accuracy in larger segments, where a small number of responses can provide an accurate score, similar to electoral polls. |
Participation in the PowerPoint export | The participation that displays in the export refers to aggregated survey participation overall, rather than the aggregated question set participation that displays on the dashboard. It's independent of any question sets. |
Heat Map Participation
The segment heat map allows you to compare participation across different areas of your organization.
- Question Set Columns: Displays participation for the specific question set selected.
- Overall Columns: Two additional columns display theOverall AggregatedandOverall Latest participation, representing activity across all survey types.
- Aggregated participation (human icon): Displays the number of unique employees within your visibility window who provided at least 1 response during the latest round for this question set

Participation in the Activity tab in Schedules | When viewing the Activity page in the Schedules area, the numbers next to past surveys display the number of people surveyed at the time or past rounds. |
Survey completion by platform | Expand a survey round in the Activity page in the Schedules area to see participation by survey platform. The report displays these survey completion platforms:
The web category includes survey completion on both desktop and mobile web, as well as the pop up within Microsoft Teams and surveys opened from Slack links. The kiosk mode category includes survey completion from any device, as long as employees used kiosk mode. Example: Completing the survey on mobile web using kiosk mode contributes to the kiosk mode metric. |
Participation in employee reactivation emails | The second attempt from the reactivation email displays the current survey round participation. |
PowerPoint export | The PowerPoint export contains all 4 participation metrics:
