Concept: AI Comment Summarization
Background
AI Comment Summarization in Peakon uses generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) to generate concise summaries of large volumes of comments, where 10 or more comments are available. These summaries are available to all users with access to comments and highlight key themes in comments for managers to analyze feedback. There are 2 types of AI summaries:
Summary Type | Consideration |
|---|---|
Comment Summarization by Scoring Group | Available on the AI Summary page. |
On-Demand Comment Summarization | Available on the All Comments page. |
AI Comment Summarization is accessible to all managers who have access to comments.

Summarization by Scoring Group
At the end of a survey round, Peakon automatically generates 3 summaries from newly submitted English comments that include scores, when 10 or more comments are present within the aggregation period and there are enough new responses that have met the visibility requirements in the survey round. The comments are grouped into three scoring categories:
- Detractors(0-6)
- Passives(7-8)
- Promoters(9-10)
Each scoring group can receive up to 3 bulletpoint paragraphs summarizing the main themes in the comments. Summaries by scoring groups only use driver comments that contain scores.
Summaries are generated based on:
- English comments from the current aggregation window (set in ).
- The survey question each comment responds to.
- The NPS scoring group (detractor, passive, or promoter).
Summaries follow Workday’s formatting, content, and theme prioritization guidelines and are only generated for the
All reports
, Direct reports
, and Company contexts.Managers can only see summaries based on comments they have access to at the end of a survey round, as defined by the administrator.
The system deletes summaries when a survey round is marked as test. You cannot generate summaries for test rounds.
On-Demand Summarization
On-demand summarization enables managers to generate summaries on the
All comments
page for any selected segment. This feature is helpful when analyzing large volumes of comments across multiple segments.Summaries are generated based on:
- Specific question groups or drivers.
- Comments from particular survey rounds.
The
Summarize comments
button generates the summary based on the selected filters. The summary appears in a slide-in window and reflects the applied filters, search settings, and sorting criteria.Summaries are generated based on:
- English comments filtered by the user.
- The survey question each comment responds to.
AI Comment Translations
If enabled, AI Comment Translations are applied to both types of AI Comment Summarization: AI Summaries and On-demand summaries. Without translations enabled, you can only read summaries in English.
Limitations
- Summaries are generated in English and only summarize English comments, unless if using Concept: AI Comment Translations. This ensures that all comments, regardless of language, are included in the summary, which is then translated into the user’s selected dashboard language.
- On-Demand Summarization requires a minimum of 10 filtered comments to generate a summary.
- Summarisation by scoring group requires a minimum of 10 comments with scores to generate a summary within each scoring group.
- TheGenerate summaryoption is not available on the Sensitive Comments or Semantic Search pages.
- Proxy view does not support summary generation.
- Past summaries are not saved. Users should copy summaries using theCopy summaryoption.
- Comment summaries are cleared when a survey round is marked as test.
- Automated AI summaries are only generated for segment owners who have active access at round close. If the access control group is inactive at that time, summaries can’t be generated as the system only includes comments the segment owner has permission to view at round close.
