Microsoft Word Connector for Workday Contract Lifecycle Management - AI Tool

Workday introduces AI-driven capabilities delivered via an Add-in for the Microsoft Word Connector, allowing you to leverage Workday CLM intelligence directly within Microsoft Word desktop.
Business Benefits
This update helps unify your drafting process by bringing conversational AI and automated insights into your local editing environment.
Changes
We expand the functionality of the Microsoft Word Connector with an Add-in to include high-speed drafting support and conversational AI.
  • Ask AI
: We add a new panel in Word desktop that allows you to ask natural language questions about the information contained in the currently open document. Examples: summarize terms or ask questions about specific clauses. Note: Queries are run against the version of the document first opened.
  • Source citations
: To ensure accuracy, Ask AI provides interactive, numbered citations that link directly to specific sections within the Word document.
  • Copy to Clipboard
: We include a Copy to Clipboard option that enables you to quickly move AI-generated summaries into the Word document.
  • Edit detection
: The Add-in notifies you if the document state has changed since the last AI analysis, ensuring your queries are always based on the most recent text.
Considerations:
  • To prevent version conflicts and maintain a single source of truth, the Add-in blocks subsequent sessions if you attempt to edit documents across different platform instances (such as Production and Sandbox) simultaneously.
  • The CLM AI tool continues to inherit and enforce the Workflow visibility and permissions established in Workday CLM, ensuring that only users with Edit permissions for the current workflow stage can access these AI features.
  • These options are only available on the Workday CLM editor:
    • Saved questions
    • Batch processing
    • Automate with Custom AI
