Set Up Microsoft Word Connector for Contract Lifecycle Management

Set Up Microsoft Word Connector for Contract Lifecycle Management

  • Have an active license for Microsoft Word desktop.
  • Have a valid Microsoft 365 or Office 365 subscription with Microsoft SharePoint Online provisioned and active in your tenant.
  • A SharePoint administrator must authorize Workday Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) to read, edit, and sync documents via SharePoint Embedded.
  • End-users must have Edit permissions on the workflow associated with the document they would like to edit.
The Microsoft Word Connector enables end-users to launch contract documents from Workday Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) directly into their local Microsoft Word desktop application for editing. You can synchronize updates, including document content, icons, tables, images, and native text highlighting, back to the CLM platform. The connector also supports Track Changes and an Activity Log within CLM to capture modifications made during desktop sessions.
  1. Go to the
    Admin
    tab and access the
    Integrations
    page.
  2. On the
    Document Editing
    section, go to the
    Microsoft Word
    card and click
    Configure
    .
  3. Click
    Connect
to grant Workday CLM the necessary permissions to read, edit, and sync documents via SharePoint Embedded.
If you are not a SharePoint administrator, copy the provided link and send it to your IT Administrator for consent.
  4. Enter the connection details provided by the SharePoint administrator:
    SharePoint Site URL
    . Example: https://www.yourcompany-admin.sharepoint.com
    Microsoft Tenant ID
    .
  5. Click
    Save Configuration
    .
The Microsoft Connector is now configured. Your users can now edit CLM documents in the Microsoft Word desktop application. See Edit Documents Using Microsoft Word
Considerations
:
  • Documents edited in the desktop application don’t appear in the
    Recently Edited
    list within
    Microsoft Word.
Users must return to Workday CLM to re-open the file.
  • Documents opened in Microsoft Word will have an expanded name that differs slightly from the name shown in the Workday CLM user interface. It’s a UUID required for the integration appended to the document name. The title of the document can’t be edited.
To enable AI-driven capabilities for the Microsoft Word Connector, you also need to configure a CLM Add-In.
  1. In the
    Microsoft 365 admin center
    , navigate to
    Settings
    >
    Integrated apps
    and select the
    Deployed apps
    tab.
  2. Select
    Upload custom apps
    .
  3. Choose
    Office Add-in
    and select
    Provide link to manifest file
    .
  4. Include the link corresponding to your region:
    1. Non-EU: https://scribyl.evisort.com/addin/manifest.production.xml
    2. EU: https://scribyl.eu1.evisort.com/addin/manifest.eu1.xml
  5. Assign the add in to the appropriate audience:
    1. Entire Organization
    2. Specific users/groups (e.g., your Legal Team)
    3. Just me
  6. Review and accept the app permissions to finalize the deployment. To complete the connection, a user in your organization must open the Workday CLM Add-in within Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint). It may take up to 24 hours for the add-in to appear in the Word ribbon for designated users.
