Set Up Payroll Agent

You might need to take additional steps to enable this feature based on your organization's subscription service agreement. Your organization is either on the Main Service Agreement (MSA) or the Universal Main Service Agreement (UMSA). To determine your organization's subscription service agreement:
  1. Select your profile avatar on Workday Community.
  2. Select
    Profile
    .
  3. On your profile page, select your organization's name, which is beneath your name and next to your job title.
  4. View your
    Subscription Service Agreement
    value.
If the value is:
UMSA is required for non-production and production tenants for Workday-Built agents. UMSA is not required for non-production tenants for self-built agents.
For information about how using agents impacts your Flex Credits, see: Workday Flex Credits Community page.
You can set up the Payroll agent to enable your payroll practitioners to access and use its skills. The Payroll agent provides task assistance, information retrieval, and data summarization through conversational AI.
  1. Access the
    Agent Management Hub
    report.
  2. Select the
    Unregistered Workday Agent
    tab.
  3. For the
    Payroll Agent
    , click
    Register
    .
  4. Select the
    Confirm
    check box, and then click
    OK
    to complete the registration.
    Workday moves the
    Payroll Agent
    to the
    Agent Registry
    tab.
  5. Select the
    Agent Registry
tab and then click on the
    Payroll Agent
    name to configure the agent.
  6. From the agent's profile view, click
    Configure Agent
    .
  7. In the
    Status
column, make each relevant skill available by enabling the toggle slider.
  8. For each enabled
    Skill
    , populate the
    Available To
prompt with the security groups that you want to provide access to for that specific skill. The security groups added to the
    Available To
prompt for an agent establish the agent’s interaction policy.
The security groups you select in the
    Available To
prompt must also have permissions to the domain or business process security policies that secure the Payroll agent's tools. You can use the
    View Security for Agent Skill
report to assist with your agent security configurations. This report shows you detailed information about the Payroll agent’s Tools APIs and the respective domain or business process security policies and permissions. At agent runtime, Workday evaluates both user access to the agent and the user access to the APIs the agent is executing as tools.
  9. Click
    Activate
. You can also optionally save and return to this configuration.
Agent configuration can be updated at any time. When you activate the Payroll agent, the ASU for the agent also activates automatically.
You can access Workday Chat to use the Payroll agent.
(Optional) Set up the additional configuration for the:
  • Notifications to workers missing payment elections for the Identify Missing Data and Configuration skill.
  • Minimum Wage Analysis skill.
(Optional) When you are done with the Payroll agent, you can click
Deactivate
to turn it off. You can activate, deactivate and reactivate the Payroll agent at any time in the
Agent Management Hub
. When you deactivate an agent, the ASU for the agent also deactivates automatically.
