Create Work Types
Have the
settings.admin
permission.Work types enable users to select a time type when filling out or modifying timesheets, which indicates how time is allocated. For example, you can create time types for overtime, non-working time, and more. Work types impact rate calculation, and you can use them in the Calculation Engine to build custom formulas in your tenant.
- From the header, select .
- UnderTimekeeping, selectWork Hours Types & Rates.
- On theWork Typestab, clickAdd New Row.
- Complete the task:OptionDescriptionNameThis is the option that will display on timesheets when contractors select it, or when VNDLY automatically classifies it. Examples:RegularorOvertimeRate TypeIf you select:
- Multiplier, the bill rate will be multiplied by the amount that you enter in theValuefield.
- Flat Rate, the bill rate will be added to the amount that you enter in theValuefield.
Pay Rate MultiplierThis field enables you to modify pay rates. Note that we no longer recommend using this field and instead recommend using theCalculation EngineinCompany Settings. For more information, see Steps: Calculation Engine.Max AmountThis field is only necessary if you want to restrict the amount of units captured against a work type. If you enter0, there will be no max amount for the work type.TaxableIndicates whether or not time entered with this work type should be subject to taxes.BreakIndicates whether the work type can be associated with a break. This field can be beneficial for reporting purposes, particularly for organizations that pay a different rate for break time or are located in areas with specific break laws, such as California.Note that:- Paid breaks will have a multiplier of1. Unpaid breaks will have a multiplier of0.
- When a break is added to a timesheet, a row in theNonworkingsection will be added to reflect the break hours.
Hours ClassificationRequired for the work type to be used on timesheets. This field is also beneficial for reporting purposes, and it can be used in the Calculation Engine to build conditional formulas based on a specific classification type.Options include:- Nonworking: This time won’t be used to determine overtime.
- Automatic: Indicates theStandardwork type. Auto classification uses the overtime profile rules assigned on the work order to classify entered time into the common time types.
- Regular Time: Indicates theRegularwork type, used with manual time entry.
- Overtime: Indicates theOvertimework type, used with manual time entry.
- Double Time: Indicates theDouble Timework type, used with manual time entry.
EnabledThis toggle must be turned on for the work type to be available for use on work type profiles.
If you want contractors to be able to select the work type on a timesheet, you must add the work type to a work type profile. See Create Work Type Profiles.
