Create Work Type Profiles

Work type profiles enable you to create a group of work types to use for specific scenarios.
Example: You have contractors in California who need to track breaks and have a different overtime rate than contractors in other states. So, you create a work type profile that includes work types that reflect the California contractors’ breaks and overtime calculation. You also create a separate work type profile for contractors in other states to reflect their different calculations.
  1. From the header, select

  2. Under
    Timekeeping
    , select
    Work Hours Types & Rates
    .
  3. On the
    Work Type Profiles
     tab, click
    Add New Row
    .
  4. Complete the task:

    Default
    When enabled, indicates that the work type profile should be used as the default for newly created work orders. If desired, you can override this default on newly created work orders by modifying the work order individually or with a bulk update.
    Note that you are required to have 1 default work type profile in your tenant, but you can only have 1 default at a time.
    Work Type
    Select one or more work types to add to the work type profile.
    Premium Rates
    This field only displays if you have configured premium rates on the
    Manage Premium Rates
     page (
    More
    Company Settings
    Timekeeping
    Premium Rates
    ).
    A premium rate is extra pay for hours worked, such as for special occasions or weekends. Note that if you want to indicate extra pay related to shifts specifically, we recommend configuring shifts instead. Configuring shifts reduces the need to create additional work types, and it can provide your organization more clear reporting. For more information about shifts, see Setup Considerations: Shifts.

VNDLY automatically assigns the
Default
 work type profile to new work orders. However, you override it and choose any other created work type profiles on the new work order, or when bulk updating work orders.
Contractors can select the assigned work types when filling out their timesheets. You’ll also be able to report on work type profiles by using the
Work Order
 dataset, and you can use them in the Calculation Engine to build formulas or to be used as conditional criteria in formulas.
